Dean Andrews
CREATIVE COACHING

"It's the Classic Creative Dilemma. Artists are entrepreneurs, in a sense, with no boss, no partners and no employees. We have to invent the product, be in charge of its production, manage quality control, marketing and promotion, sales, shipping, inventory control, administration and oh, by the way, inspiration. It all rests on one person’s shoulders. (Guess whose?) No wonder we get sidetracked along the way or buckle under the strain. It’s challenging!"    — Dean Andrews

After years of working with other artists, Dean Andrews has developed effective methods for approaching and conquering these challenges. Decades of her own trial and error experiences enable her to offer information with clarity and sensitivity. In addition to a good instinct for the vagaries of the art world, Dean has a firm grasp on its nuts-and-bolts. Her resource files are filled with relevant information both general and esoteric and are constantly being updated to remain current.

A BORN COACH
Dean Andrews Creative Counseling was born as a natural extension to Dean's own evolution as an artist: spending her days in the studio and her evenings immersed in the art scene…constantly researching that world, reading, attending gallery openings, meeting dealers, collectors, museum directors, critics, art writers, other artists…paying dues and paying attention.

After facilitating hundreds of critique groups and artist feedback exchanges in both her New York and Los Angeles studios, Dean couldn’t help but notice that everyone (and their brother) was coming to her for help on tackling creative issues or advancing their careers. Further, she noticed that she enjoyed doing it and was, in fact, really, really good at it. And so, Dean Andrews Creative Coaching was born.

Dean Andrews has been coaching artists from coast to coast for over 15 years, helping some from the closet to the studio and others from the studio to the Whitney Biennial.
